Preserve the New Hampshire Advantage

I will NEVER support an income tax or general sales tax in New Hampshire. The tax structure in New Hampshire is one of the things that attracted me to the state to retire four years ago. After talking to many Granite Staters, I believe the bulk of the citizenry feels the same way. NO NEW TAXES!

Protect the Second Amendment

The right to bear arms shall not be infringed. Period. New Hampshire has a proud tradition of gun ownership and one of the lowest crime rates in the nation. We do not need more restrictions on firearms possession or sales. I oppose “red flag” laws, which open the door to infringing on our rights without due process and are unconstitutional.

Expand School Choice

Parents know their children better than any administrator or teacher can, and parents should be able to decide what method of education is best for their child. The options of home schooling, remote learning, charter school, private school, or traditional public school should be readily available to ALL parents.

End Qualified Immunity

Qualified immunity, a concept created by the courts, keeps unprofessional and abusive police officers and other government officials from being held accountable when they violate citizens' rights. Police should only use deadly force to protect their lives or the lives of others. Even the guilty have constitutional rights and deserve their day in court.

Install US Term Limits

US Congress has become entrenched such that their leadership does not even allow bills to be considered if the leadership does not agree with them.  As the representatives and senators want to keep getting elected, they accept donations from sources that expect return on their investment.  It is time to drain the swamp and install US term limits so that individual representatives and senators need to concentrate on representing their constituency rather than their biggest donors.  I have signed a pledge to support the constitutional amendment required to put these limits in place.  https://www.termlimits.com/carl-wikstrom-supports-term-limits/
